(Art at the Beginning – an afternoon of worksops designed for the adult beginner to try out arts for the first time.  Three of these sessions run twice so that you can try more than one workshop in the afternoon.)

This 2 hour workshop will introduce the basic principles of calligraphy and you will create your own masterpiece to take away.  Materials will be provided.

Mark L’Argent BA (Hons) is a lettering artist, calligrapher and designer.  From his studio on the outskirts of London, he works mainly to commission for private clients and commercially with art directors, film & TV companies, and design consultants etc. Employing very traditional historical forms as well as contemporary styles and designs for a broad range of applications.

Mark is a former studio assistant to Donald Jackson, artistic director of the St John’s Bible the first hand-written grand bible for over 500 years, using both modern and traditional tools and materials.  Mark also teaches occasional lettering workshops across the UK
